Planning your C&J bus schedule to align with your flight departure time is important for a stress-free travel experience. Here are some guidelines to help you decide when to schedule your bus departure.
Domestic Travel:
- Logan Airport Recommended Arrival Time: For domestic flights, it's generally advised to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours prior to departure.
- Consider Terminal and Arrival Variability: Keep in mind that the arrival time printed on your ticket is for arrival into Terminal A at Boston Logan Airport. If your flight departs from a different terminal, your arrival time will vary based on factors such as the number of passengers disembarking, luggage handling time, and traffic within Logan Airport.
Example 1:
- Flight Departure: 9:25am
- Departure Terminal: Portsmouth Terminal
- Suggested Bus Departure: Take the 6am bus, arriving at Boston Logan around 7:15am, providing ample time before your flight.
Example 2:
- Flight Departure: 6:45pm
- Departure Terminal: Seabrook terminal
- Recommended Option: The 3:25pm departure ensures you arrive by 4:15pm, comfortably meeting Logan Airport's 2-hour recommendation.
While in this scenario the 4:25pm schedule looks appealing, the estimated arrival time of 5:15pm is a risk should anything on your day of travel go wrong. Don’t forget, the estimated arrival of this bus is into Terminal A.
International Travel:
- Logan Airport Extended Arrival Time: For international flights, it's recommended to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours prior to departure.
- Customs Considerations: If your international flight includes a layover in the US before your final destination, you only need to adhere to the 2-hour recommendation, as you'll clear customs elsewhere.
Example 1:
- Flight Departure: 3:45pm
- Departure Terminal: Dover Terminal
- Bus Departure Time: We recommend taking the 10:30am bus from Dover, arriving at Terminal A around 12:15pm, providing sufficient time for check-in and security clearance.
Example 2:
- Flight Departure: 10:15pm
- Departure Terminal: Portsmouth terminal
- Recommended Option: Choose the 5pm departure, arriving by 6:30pm. You will arrive ahead of your three-hour recommendation with minimal worries about traffic conditions.
While in this example the 6pm bus looks appealing, the estimated arrival time of 7:30pm is a risk should anything on your day of travel go wrong. Don’t forget, the estimated arrival is into Terminal A! This is especially important for international travel as majority of flights depart from Terminal E. This is the last stop at Logan Airport and may take an additional 15-20 minutes depending on traffic within the airport, passengers disembarking, etc.
